GIVEAWAY | One Stamp Set Four Ways | Chubby Chums | Video

It’s time for a bit of a different post. I created four cards using just one stamp set, showcasing a variety of different techniques suitable for a range crafting levels. I’m using the Chubby Chums stamp set from Paper Smooches for this. And that’s not all – Paper Smooches are very kindly sponsoring my video, which means one lucky winner will receive their very own copy of the Chubby Chums stamp set! If you’d like to enter the draw, just click on this link to find the Rafflecopter, and follow the instructions.

Card 1 – Stamp & Color

I started very simple for the first card. I stamped the owl and accompanying sentiment directly onto my cardbase with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink which is alcohol marker friendly. Be sure to choose an ink that is suitable for using with your chosen colouring medium. I then used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour in the owl. I went with bright colours rather than realistic ones. After colouring the owl I added some grounding and the first card was complete.

Challenges:

Color Throwdown – Color Palette

Moving Along With The Times – Things With Wings

STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge – Anything CAS

Card 2 – Paper Piecing

My second card also started with stamping the images and sentiments directly onto my card base. I then stamped the images another time onto some snippets of patterned paper, then fussy cut them out. I used ink to add shading and detail to each of the animals. For the yellow chick I used Limoncello and Tutti Frutti inks from Catherine Pooler. The cat was shaded with Simon Says Stamp’s Barely Beige ink with additional Altenew Paper Bag ink for detailing. An finally I used Catherine Pooler’s Twlight ink for the dog.

I stamped the images again onto white card so that I could colour and fussy cut their eyes as well as the cat’s nose and the dog’s tongue. I used Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue to piece those into place. I then used the Twilight ink again to add grounding on my card base before adhering the paper pieced images onto place.

Challenges:

MFT Sketch Challenge – Sketch

The Sisterhood of Crafters – Paper Piecing (edit – where it was chosen as a top 3!)

Card 3 – Simple Scene

I decided to do a simple scene for my third card and first stamped the cow on a snippet of white card. I masked it off, and also masked a hill before ink blending my sky with Altenew Dusk ink and the MFT Mini Cloud Edges stencil. I then switched my hill mask so that I could blend the grass using Hero Arts’ Green Apple ink.

With all the blending done I removed the masks and used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour the cow before restamping it with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then die cut the image panel with a Mama Elephant Lafayette Frame die.

I adhered a panel of blue patterned paper to my card base and popped up my focal panel onto it, with a white embossed black sentiment strip popped up on top of that.

Challenges:

Freshly Made Sketches – Sketch

MFT Color Challenge – Color Palette

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – S is For… (Smooches!)

Card 4 – Detailed Scene

For my final card I created another scene, but went a bit more detailed. I stamped the owl and cat with Barely Beige ink – though residual ink on the stamps meant they were slightly darker than I’d originally intended – then used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers both to colour the images in but also to add a scene around them.

I didn’t like how my sky came out so I trimmed the top portion of my image away and instead used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide to ink blend a sky on the inside of the card. I then white heat embossed a sentiment onto the fence, completing the design.

Challenges:

Addicted to Stamps and More – Anything Goes

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – Anything Goes

STAMPlorations Theme & Sketch Challenge – Anything Stamping

The House That Stamps Built – Anything Goes

……….

I really had a lot of fun coming up with the designs for this video and blog post. I hope you enjoyed watching them too. I’d love to know which card is your favourite, and also to which technique you liked best. Remember to visit the Rafflecopter and follow the instructions to be in with a chance to win your own copy of Chubby Chums. What would you make with it if you win?

Love,
