TMR 123 | Ahoy, Matey! | Pirates

I’m a day late sharing my project for the new challenge at The Male Room, due to some technical difficulties, but better late than never! The theme for our challenge this time around is Pirates and I created a fun scene card for my design team project.

I started by creating my background. I ink blended Aquatini ink onto the top portion of a white panel, then went back over it with more Aquatini and the MFT Mini Cloud Edges stencil. I then ink blended Something Borrowed onto the lower portion of the panel to create the sea. For the sandy island I used a panel of sandy coloured card stock, ink blended a sand back with Tea Dye Distress ink, and used more Tea Dye to add splatters of texture to the front sand bank.

Having completed the background scene elements I used MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink to stamp the palm trees, girl pirate, and boat from Lawn Fawn’s Ahoy Matey onto Neenah Solar White 80lb card stock. I also stamped a sentiment onto the sand bank using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I coloured the images in with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers then fussy cut them out.

With all the elements ready it was just a case of arranging the scene and adhering all the pieces together with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid glue. I then completed the card by adhering the scene panel to a dark blue card base.

I had a lot of fun creating this scene card. I do enjoy making creating scenes. This one was relatively simple, with only minimal masking, unlike some others I have made. If this has inspired you, I hope you’ll come along and join in with our pirate challenge. There’s also plenty more inspiration from the rest of the team over in the challenge post, or directly at their blogs via the links below.
