CIC 482 | Rise and Grind | Red, Orange, Yellow

Today is the start of our new Cupcake Inspiration Challenge. This time around we have a colour palette to play with. We want to see your projects that focus on using red, orange and yellow.

For my card I started by stamping the coffee cup from Unity’s Spring To Go. I then masked it off and stamped one if the circle stamps from Gina K’s Wreath Builder stamp set. I stamped it twice, once towards the top of the image using Catherine Pooler’s Tutti Frutti ink, and again towards the bottom with Limoncello ink.

Next I cut down my mask to cover just the sleeve and flower portion, and used a combination of post-it tape and washi tape to mask around the edges of the mug. I then ink blended the mug with Limoncello, Tiki Torch and Tutti Frutti inks to create a gradient from red to yellow.

I removed my masks and completed the colouring on my image with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers. I then finished the card by black heat embossing a sentiment from Stamplorations’ Rise and Grind.

I feel like I managed to make a quite summery feeling card with these Autumnal colours! I’m really pleased with how the coffee cup turned out, anyway. I really like how the ink blending looks and it pulls in the colours perfectly. I hope this inspired you to come and join in with our challenge.
