I’m a little late sharing this project but… we have a new challenge at The Male Room! Our theme is hobbies, and I chose sailing or boating as the hobby for my card. Husband teased a bit because it’s not really the right kind of boat, but hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?
I started by making a circle on my blue card base. I stamped the little boat from Lawn Fawn’s Lovable Legends and masked it off, then also masked off the lower portion of the circle.
Using the MFT Mini Cloud Edges stencil I added clouds to the upper portion of the circle with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide. I then swapped my mask and used Mermaid Lagoon to blend the sea. I added detail by stamping the waves from Ahoy, Matey with the same ink.
Placing a circle mask over my scene I ink blended around it with white ink to help it pop from the background. I then removed all my masks and used coloured pencils to colour in the boat.
I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely happy with how this card turned out. For one thing I think the white ink blended halo looks a bit messy. I’ve never been very happy with the white ink I have as it doesn’t seem to work well. Of course on this occasion it seemed to go down too heavy whereas all the other times I’ve used it I’ve had to blend forever to get it to show up at all… Oh well! Be sure to head over to The Male Room to see how the rest of the team interpreted this theme (or visit their blogs directly at the links below), and we hope you’ll link up with our challenge, too.
