CIC 486 | Be Mine | Brown, Green & White

The Cupcake Inspiration Challenge is back from its break! Did you miss us? We’re starting our first challenge of the year with a colour palette – brown, green and white. You can create any themed project you like as long as those three colours take centre stage.

I decided to pull out the Ewe Are Awesome stamp set from Clearly Besotted for my card. I have the older version but the current version of the stamp set is available here. I spent a few minutes working out how I wanted the stamps arranged, then began my stamping.

First I stamped the sheep with Tea Dye Distress ink. I was thinking it would be fun to have a brown outline rather than black, though it actually ended up being no-line, which works too!

I covered the sheep with a mask so that I could stamp the tufts of grass either side. This is where I bought in the green, going for Forest Glades ink from Altenew.

Removing the mask I got started on colouring the sheep. I used a variety if brown Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I used c-shapes to add dimension to the sheep’s wool, and as I usually do I coloured as if my light source would be coming from the top right.

Having completed my colouring the last thing to do was add the sentiment. I decided to go with a Valentine’s appropriate sentiment, as it’s getting closer! I stamped with Altenew Paper Bag ink to continue the brown.

I always love working with this stamp set because the sheep are so cute! Normally I colour the sheep either as a black or a white sheep (and once, green!), so it was fun to use this colour challenge to change it up a bit and make a brown sheep. If this inspires you, you can come and play along with our challenge here. You can find more inspiration from the rest of the design team, including our new team-mate Lucille, on the challenge page or directly on their blogs below.

  2. Cute Valentines, your sheep reminds me of ours in the field outside! They are never pearly white, they love the dirt too much for some reason!

  4. I’ve not tried the no line coloring, but you have inspired me to try this technique. Love the simplicity of your card and sentiment. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble and don’t forget to share with our partner this challenge, Use Your Stuff “Critters.
