Christmas Craft Creations | Claus For Celebration | Christmas Characters

It’s the second Wednesday of the month which means it’s time for our new challenge at Christmas Craft Creations! We have a fantastic prize available to be won if you come and play along with our challenge, plus there is a Design Team Call if you’d like to come and join our super talented team. Be sure to head over to the challenge page for all the details.

The stamp set that is available to be won for the challenge is Simon Says Stamp’s Christmas Squad, which I have my own copy of so I decided I wanted to use it on my card.

First though I began by creating a background directly on my card base using Catherine Pooler’s BFF Background Stamp. I wanted to create an ombre look so I put the stamp into my MISTI so that I would be able to restamp in the same place several times to build up the colour I wanted. The inks I used for the background are Altenew inks in green – Evergreen, Forest Glades and Frayed Leaf. I also used Ruby Red ink to stamp the smaller heart from the stamp set into some of the openings of the diamond background design.

Next I created my sentiment strip by white heat embossing a sentiment from the stamp set onto a snippet of black card stock. I then used one of the banner dies from MFT’s Stitched Sentiment Strips Dienamics to die cut the sentiment out.

I used MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink to stamp the Father Christmas onto a snippet of white card stock, then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, plus some Yosoo markers for the red (see this post about combining alcohol marker brands!) as I only have one red Illustrator marker. After completing my colouring I fussy cut the image out, and used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the finished image and sentiment strip onto my card base.

There are so many options for “Christmas Characters” to meet our challenge theme – whether you go for Father Christmas like I have, or angels, snowmen, elves… It’s really up to you! If you’re inspired and want to join in with our challenge be sure to hop over to the challenge page and enter up your project, and maybe send in a Design Team application whilst you’re at it! Again, a random winner picked from all entrants to the challenge will receive the Christmas Squad stamp set. (If you’d like more examples of how to use the stamp set, check out this post.) If you’d like some more inspiration there’s some fantastic projects from the team on the challenge post or directly at their blogs via the links below, plus check back in two weeks for inspiration from the Reminder Team.

Love,
