Quick CAS Christmas Card | Christmas In July

I’ve been sharing lots of summery beach themed cards lately, and I thought I’d take a break from that for a super quick and simple Christmas in July card! This one is very CAS and all on one layer. I don’t love it, but still it was nice to take a creative break and make something with a different theme to what I had been doing!

I wanted to make something really quick so I started by stamping a simple Christmas sentiment from Hero Arts’ Polar Greeting stamp set and heat embossed it in white.

I then added a flourish stamp from Gina K’s Wreath Builder stamp set. I extended the flourish slightly by stamping one of the leaf stamps to either end of the flourish and heat embossed the whole thing with WOW! Gold Pearl embossing powder. I tied in the white of the sentiment more by filling in the heart in the flourish plus adding two dots with the help of my embossing pen, then used the white embossing powder again on those.

I considered leaving the card at that but decided to add a little something extra. I masked off either side of my heat embossing and ink blended with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide. I added theΒ Snowflake Net stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over the top and ink blended some more for some tone on tone pattern.

As I said this was a really quick and simple card, and a good excuse to step away from the summer beach designs for a bit (though I’ve been having a lot of fun with those!) I don’t love it… But I don’t hate it either. I just feel like it’s missing something. What do you think? How could I finish this card, or do you think it’s fine as it is?

Love,

Lady Joyful

  2. Beautiful design, that little bit of stenciling really looks good with the gold and white, and all so pretty on the blue. Thank you for joining us at Double Trouble!
