We’re having a huge celebration over at Cupcake Inspirations because it is our 500th Challenge! In honour of the occasion we chose the theme of Birthday Celebration, so now is a great time to catch up on making birthday cards. Plus we have 13 sponsors offering 16 prizes between them for a total value of over $200! The team (myself included) have been very busy preparing as we’re sharing inspiration daily throughout the challenge in order to feature each of the fabulous sponsors, so we hope you’ll check back for those too. For today’s feature post we’re highlighting STAMPlorations and Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios.
Card 1 – STAMPlorations
First up is STAMPlorations, who are offering a $20 gift card as their prize. For my project I used one of their digi stamps – Framed Solitary Daffodil. I printed it directly onto a card base and colored with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, going with yellow (of course!) for the flower, and a bright green for the greenery. I coloured with some white spaces left for highlights. I also left the background uncoloured. I used a soft pencil and a paper stump to blend in some shading to give the impression of dimension to the design, then finished up by stamping a sentiment from World Birthday Cakes with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
Challenges included:
CAS On Friday – Nature
Creative Confetti – CAS
Cupcake Inspirations Challenge – Birthday Celebration
Spectrum Noir Challenge – Anything Goes
STAMPlorations Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge – Anything Goes
STAMPlorations Summer Challenge – Anything Goes
Uniko Challenge – In My Garden
Card 2 – Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios
Our second featured sponsor for today is Rachelle Anne Miller Creative Studios, who are offering a digital stamp as a prize. I used the adorable Giraffe and Bird digi stamp for my project. As with my first card I printed the image directly onto the card base. I also printed it the same size onto some scrap paper which I fussy cut and then used some Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to turn it into a mask. Once the image was masked off, plus a mask to separate the horizon line, I ink blended a simple sky with in Ocean Waves and Dusk inks from Altenew. I then shifted my horizon mask and ink blended the grass with Forest Glades and Frayed Leaf. My sky ink blending had slightly gone over the horizon mask making a line lower down my card base, but I worked that to my advantage later in the process.
I removed all my masks and colored the image with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I used the Sakura Gelly Roll Glitter Gel Pen to color the floating flowery looking things and the heart, plus to add dot detail to the centres of the flowers. I also used it to add some more dots randomly in the background. I then used a white gel pen to add some shine detail to my colored images. I finished off with a sentiment from Clearly Besotted’s Feeling Sheepish stamp set (which is an older version of Ewe Are Awesome) with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.
