CIC 500 | Birthday Celebration – PRIZES | Crafty Scrappers / Gerda Steiner Designs

We’re having a huge celebration over at Cupcake Inspirations because it is our 500th Challenge! In honour of the occasion we chose the theme of Birthday Celebration, so now is a great time to catch up on making birthday cards. Plus we have 13 sponsors offering 16 prizes between them for a total value of over $200! The team (myself included) have been very busy preparing as we’re sharing inspiration daily throughout the challenge in order to feature each of the fabulous sponsors, so we hope you’ll check back for those too. For today’s feature post we’re highlighting Crafty Scrappers and Gerda Steiner Designs.

Card 1 – Crafty Scrappers

First up is Crafty Scrappers, who are offering the Ms. Cupcake digi set as their prize. I used that same set to create my card. I first arranged the stamps in Word, making a repeating pattern background with the individual cupcake image which I made washed out, then positioning the girl and sentiment in the foreground in full strength colour. I printed it directly onto a card base and colored with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Glitter Gel Pen to add dotted detail to her dress and the cupcake casing, and a white gel pen to add some highlights.

Challenges included:

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge – Birthday Celebration

Fun Friday Challenge – Celebration

Polkadoodles Craft Challenge – Anything Goes

Spectrum Noir Challenge – Anything Goes

Through The Craft Room Door – Anything Goes

Card 2 – Gerda Steiner Designs

Our second featured sponsor for today is Gerda Steiner Designs, who are offering a $20 store credit as a prize. I used the Cat with Balloons digi which I stamped directly onto a card base and colored with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I then used several of the little stamps from Catherine Pooler’s WooHoo stamp set to create some confetti for a celebratory feel. I roughly masked so that some pieces seemed to be behind the cat and balloons, and also stamped some in front of them. I paid particular attention to stamping one on the cat’s nose as the image looks cross-eyed so I wanted to give the impression it is looking at the confetti. For the stamping I used Altenew Ruby Red ink and Simon Says Stamp’s Lemon Zest ink. I finished off with a sentiment from Clearly Besotted’s Feeling Sheepish stamp set (which is an older version of Ewe Are Awesome) with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

Challenges included:

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge – Birthday Celebration

Digi Choosday – Anything Goes

Dragonfly Dreams Challenge – Anything Goes

Gerda Steiner Share Your Designs Challenge – Anything Goes

MFT Color Challenge – Color Palette

Spectrum Noir Challenge – Anything Goes

I hope these inspire you to come and play along with our challenge. Again, we have a lot of prizes up for grabs if you come and play along. You can find further inspiration from the rest of the team over on the launch post, or any of the feature posts (Tuesday’s or today’s), or directly on their blogs via the links below. Plus we’ll be sharing each day throughout the rest of the challenge to further inspire you. I hope you’ll join us!

Love,

Lady Joyful
