We’re having a huge celebration over at Cupcake Inspirations because it is our 500th Challenge! In honour of the occasion we chose the theme of Birthday Celebration, so now is a great time to catch up on making birthday cards. Plus we have 13 sponsors offering 16 prizes between them for a total value of over $200! The team (myself included) have been very busy preparing as we’re sharing inspiration daily throughout the challenge in order to feature each of the fabulous sponsors, so we hope you’ll check back for those too. For today’s feature post we’re highlighting Varada Sharma, who are offering their July release as a prize!
I spent quite some time creating an arrangement using various digis. I used a variety from Celebration, Hanging Banner Background, and Cupcakes, Cake Slices and Toppers. I edited the background banners to be washed out, whilst keeping everything else full strength.
Once I was happy with the arrangement I printed it directly onto a card base and colored with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The top and right hand side hadn’t printed all the way to the edge so I sketched in the missing portions of the banners with a pencil. Where the icing and glass ball would reflect colour because of being shiny I added some of the colours from the nearby elements of the design. I’m not sure how well it came across, and I think it worked better in my head!
After finishing my colouring I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Glitter Gel Pen to add some shine to areas of the cake stand. I also used a white gel pen to add some highlights.
Finally I added a wood grain style table surface to complete my scene. I created it by swiping across the card base with Frosty Pink and Rose Quartz Altenew inks. I also added a slight shadow below my image with a pink marker.
I hope this inspires you to come and play along with our challenge. Again, we have a lot of prizes up for grabs if you come and play along. You can find further inspiration from the rest of the team over on the launch post, any of the feature posts (Day 2, Day 3, or today’s Day 4), or directly on their blogs via the links below. Plus we’ll be sharing each day throughout the rest of the challenge to further inspire you. I hope you’ll join us!
Love,
Lady Joyful
