Poison Wreath | Halloween Video Hop

If you love Halloween then you’ll love this hop! This is the first of three hops I’m participating in today (the others are a birthday hop and a red panda hop!) I decided to create a Halloween wreath for my card. I started with a panel of 4″ square Kraft card which I placed into my MISTI with the Gina K Wreath Builder. I then positioned the poison bottle from Love From Lizi’s Happy Haunting stamp set onto the panel and began stamping it with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink. Once I’d completed the circle of poison bottles I switched to the smaller of the two skulls in the stamp set, and filled in the wreath with those.

With the wreath completely stamped I removed the panel from my MISTI and started colouring. I used Derwent Artist Pencils for this. I started with the poison in the bottles which I coloured green, with a little blue and yellow for the shadows and highlights respectively. I used a light brown to shade the corks, and lightly applied black to make grey labels. I also used white to add a highlight on the bottles to make them look glassy. For the skulls I used the same brown I’d used on the corks, and lots of white.

I returned the panel to my MISTI and added a sentiment to the centre of the wreath using Catherine Pooler’s Twilight ink. I used the same grey ink with Love From Lizi’s Candystripe background stamp to add stripes to a white card base which I had cut to be just larger than my focal panel. I then attached the focal panel onto it using double sided tape, completing the card.

I do hope you enjoyed this card – I really enjoyed making it! It did take quite a while to colour, and made my still-recovering wrist a bit sore, but I think the end result was worth it.
