It’s release day at Stampers Delights and I have an adorable digi to play with from this new kawaii release. You can see the new release images further down this post, plus lots of information and inspiration in the release post here. I used the Halloween Pals – Pumpkin Pete set to create this fun slider card.
I started by creating an arrangement of the images in word. I duplicated the pumpkin multiple times, some flipped for a little difference in look, and arranged them into a pumpkin patch of sorts. I adjusted the sizes so that the ones in the back were slightly smaller than the ones in the front. I added the sentiment that comes in the set just below the pumpkin arrangement. I also sized Pete himself so that his pumpkin was bigger than the others but still relatively able to fit among them. With the images all ready I printed them onto some alcohol marker friendly paper.
I then coloured the images with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I started with the pumpkins which I made a somewhat muted orange. I used the same orange for Pete’s pumpkin but glazed with a brighter orange for some differentiation. I used dull greens for the leaves and stems of the pumpkins before filling in their mouths with a dark green greys. I also coloured Pete with a variety of browns. I did colour his outfit and the pumpkin bucket in his hand but wouldn’t actually have needed to as they’re not visible on the finished card.
After completing my colouring I fussy cut the images. I completely cut out Pete, but for the pumpkin patch I just fussy cut along the top of the arrangement to create a shaped border. I then used a stitched rectangle die to create a panel with the pumpkins at the top. I used the same die to create a background panel that I could later attach the pumpkin panel onto. I also used a small circle die to cut a semi circle into the top centre of the panel, which would make the opening for grasping the pull tab slider later.
Next I started working out the interactive portion of the card. I positioned the pumpkin panel on the back panel to help me work out where to place Pete. I then used a pencil to mark the bottom of the back of his head when he would be on his hidden position, and the top when unhidden. I drew a line between the pencil marks, and cut along them with my craft knife to create the slider channel.

I then created the pull tab from two snippets of card. I used one long piece that was the same width as the opening I’d created in the top of my panel, and adhered a second piece across creating an inverted T shape. I folded the arms of the T in, then back out where they met in the middle, using my bone folder to burnish the folds. (See the video if you’re having a hard time visualising it!) I put the resulting tabs through the slider channel, folding them back open and checking them against the size of the pumpkin. I had to cut the corners off of the tab so that they wouldn’t show through, and then I adhered Pete onto the pull tab.
Once I was happy that the interactive element was working nicely I took the semi-circle I’d cut from the top of my panel earlier in the process, stamped “slide me” onto it, and adhered it onto the top of my pull tab slider before cutting away the excess length of the pull tab. I also created a sleeve on the back of the panel to hold the slider in place so that it could only move up and down, and not wiggle side to side at all.
Finally I used fun foam to pop up the pumpkin patch panel over my interactive panel, making sure to leave space for the slider element to move. I did the same with the back of the slider panel, again making sure everything could still move, then adhering it onto a green card base.
I hope you found this inspiring as a way to use some of the new release images. There’s more inspiration from the team in the release blog post or on their own pages at the links below.
Love,
Lady Joyful
