Ombre Ink Blending | Month of Celebration

We’re approaching the half way point of the Month of Celebration and I haven’t missed a day yet! I hope you’ve been enjoying so far. If you’re not sure what the month of celebration is, I’m celebrating both reaching 2000 subscribers on my YouTube channel, and it being my birthday month. All month long I’m going to be creating videos, and the more you comment on the more chances you’ll have to win a prize! Check out the original video to hear all about it, then leave a comment on the video, and head over to the Rafflecopter to confirm your entry. Commenting on today’s video is just one way to get an extra entry towards the prize draw.

I’m going to leave my blog post today pretty short and sweet rather than a full write up as I’m running behind and I’d really like to get to bed! You can always watch the video to see everything.

I started by creating a background directly on my card base by ink blending through Altenew’s Skylight Stencil with Catherine Pooler inks in TiaraTiki Torch and Tutti Frutti.

Next I stamped the alpaca from the appropriately named Alpaca stamp set onto a snippet of white card using MFT’s Black hybrid ink, and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. For the bandanna I used the coordinating solid bandanna stamp with the Tiara ink. I then used the kissing technique to add texture to the bandanna with Tiki Torch ink and one of the flowers from Wild Hibiscus.

The sentiment and the banner it is on are both from the Wood Palette Background stamp set.

I fussy cut out both the alpaca and the sentiment banner, edged with a black, water-based, brush-tip marker to hide the white core, and adhered to my card base using snippets of white card to create some dimension.

I really love how this card turned out. I like the vibrancy of the colours, and I’m really happy with the texture I achieved on the alpaca’s wool. I am less happy about how often I called it a llama in the video! Don’t forget to leave a comment over on YouTube, and complete the Rafflecopter for a chance to win my giveaway prize.

Love,

Charlotte E (Lady Joyful)
