Christmas Craft Creations | Musical Birds | Music | Video

If you’re looking for Christmas inspiration, look no further! We have such a fun challenge starting today over at Christmas Craft Creations. We’re looking for Christmas projects that are in some way inspired by music. I went for a clean and simple design for my one layer Christmas card.

This is now my 13th daily video for the Month of Celebration. If you’re not sure what the month of celebration is, I’m celebrating both reaching 2000 subscribers on my YouTube channel, and it being my birthday month. All month long I’m going to be creating videos, and the more you comment on the more chances you’ll have to win a prize! Check out the original video to hear all about it, then leave a comment on the video, and head over to the Rafflecopter to confirm your entry. Commenting on today’s video is just one way to get an extra entry towards the prize draw.

I chose Lawn Fawn’s Winter Sparrow stamp set for my card, as the perfect combination of both the Christmas and the music themes. I started by using a circle of scrap paper to mask off a portion of my card, and stamped the musical note from the stamp set around the circle with Altenew’s Coral Berry ink. I then further defined the edge of the circle by ink blending over it with Rose Quartz ink.

I removed the circle mask and stamped the branch from the stamp set with the same Coral Berry ink into the circle, before positioning the three birds and stamping them with Catherine Pooler’s Twilight ink. I then used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour the birds grey with pink accessories.

After finishing the colouring I returned the cardbase to my MISTI and restamped the birds to define the lines. I also used the Twilight ink again to stamp the sentiment which is from Lawn Fawn’s Merry Messages.

My initial plan would have called the card finished at this stage but I felt it still needed something more, so I bought in the Love From Lizi Falling Snow stencil, and used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide to add some soft snow into the circle area.

This was a relatively quick and easy card to make, and I think the little birds are really cute! I do hope you liked my take on the Music theme and that it inspired you to come and join in with us. There is a prize available for one randomly chosen winner who plays along in the challenge. (Don’t forget there’s also a prize if you join in with my giveaway on YouTube.)
