I’m part of a fun video hop today. It’s “Back to Basics” and all about making projects with minimal supplies and simple techniques. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to finally share this video I made just before I took a break from YouTube for health reasons in the spring. My idea for the video was to make five fast cards, using just one stamp set and three inks.
Before we jump into the lost, I wanted to remind you that I’m having a celebration this month as I recently reached 2000 subscribers on my YouTube channel, plus it’s my birthday month. All month long I’m going to be creating videos, and the more you comment on the more chances you’ll have to win a prize! Check out the original video to hear all about it, then leave a comment on the video, and head over to the Rafflecopter to confirm your entry. Commenting on today’s video is just one way to get an extra entry towards the prize draw.
Card 1 – Happy Together
For my first card I used a pink card base and stamped a row of the birds from my chosen stamp set – Catherine Pooler’s Happy Together – down one side with Party Dress ink. I masked one pair of birds off to add a branch for them to sit on, stamped with Midnight ink. I then removed the masks and stamped the detail layer on the birds with Party Dress, and we finally went back to the Midnight to add my sentiment.

Card 2 – Love Birds
The second card started out very similarly to the first. In fact I stamped the first row of birds second generation with the Party Dress whilst making the first card. I also added a full strength row of Party Dress birds, plus a full strength row and a second generation row of birds stamped with Flirty Fuchsia ink. I chose the large Love You sentiment for the card and inked it with with Midnight but dropped my block as I was about to stamp. Luckily the sentiment was not too wonky, and stamping a few hearts around it helped to balance the design and further disguise the error.

Creatalicious Challenges – Anything Goes
Moving Along With The Times – Animals or Birds
Card 3 – Happy Anniversary
For card number three I was trying to think outside of the box a bit. I used the branch die and stamped it all around my card base, coming in from the outside of the card and pointing towards the centre. I used the Party Dress ink for the branches. I then added a sentiment in Midnight and finished off by adding some hearts stamped with Flirty Fuchsia.
Challenges:
Polkadoodles Craft Challenge – Anything Goes
Uniko Challenge – Anything Goes
Card 4 – Anniversary Wreath
I created a wreath for card number four. I love using my wreath builder template, but in the interest of minimalism and simplicity I didn’t use it this time and instead stamped the wreath by eye. I started by stamping the base layer of the flowers, alternating between Party Dress and Flirty Fuchsia. I then added the detail layer onto them, putting Flirty Fuchsia onto the pink, and Midnight onto the purple. I then added outline hearts to my wreath, again alternating between the pink and purple. I finished the wreath with leaves, using only the detail layer which I stamped in black. I then completed the card with a sentiment.
Challenges:
Classic Design Challenge – Anything Goes
Crafter’s Castle Challenge – Anything Goes
The Flower Challenge – Circles
Card 5 – Simply Love
My final card was the quickest, as I was rapidly approaching my self-imposed 25 minute deadline. I chose a pink card base and stamped the large love you sentiment onto it in Midnight ink. I then finished it off very simply with a trio of hearts stamped with Party Dress.
Challenges:
Crafty Catz – Anything Goes
The House That Stamps Built – Less Is More
And that’s my five fast cards! I’m really pleased with how the card turned out. Whilst it’s nice to make more involved cards sometimes, it is also fun to be able to get several cards made quickly. I hope you liked the ideas. We’d love it if you join in with the hop to have more inspiration from the other participants. The information for the next stop on the hop is in the description box of the video over on YouTube. Don’t forget to also leave a comment over on YouTube, and complete the Rafflecopter for a chance to win my giveaway prize for the month.
Love,
