After a busy day out I figured I should maybe change my plan for today and make something quick for the daily Month of Celebration video. When I sat down to craft though I went ahead and made the card I’d been planning all along – which was far from quick!
If you’re not sure what the month of celebration is, I’m celebrating both reaching 2000 subscribers on my YouTube channel, and it being my birthday month. All month long I’m going to be creating videos, and the more you comment on the more chances you’ll have to win a prize! Check out the original video to hear all about it, then leave a comment on the video, and head over to the Rafflecopter to confirm your entry. Commenting on today’s video is just one way to get an extra entry towards the prize draw.
I started by stamping a dragon from MFT’s Magical Friends onto some alcohol marker friendly card stock with Simon Says Stamp’s Barely Beige ink. I then used a pencil to lightly sketch out a jumper/sweater onto him, before colouring with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers. The colours I used are shown in the video. The markers didn’t quite give the look I was going for though, so I stepped up the colouring by bringing in some pencils to finish the dragon. I then fussy cut him out and set him to one side.
For my background I chose a panel of pearlised white card and dry embossed it with a Christmas Sweater patterned stencil. I then stamped a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s Merry Messages and heat embossed it onto a vellum strip with Love From Lizi’s Emerald City embossing powder. I wrapped the vellum strip around the dry embossed panel and adhered it into place. I then edged it with some of Love From Lizi’s Pinstripe Peel Offs in Apple Green Mirror.
The final touch to add to my card was a sprinkling of snowflakes. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide to stamp the snowflakes from Pink & Main’s Snow Globe stamp set and cut them out with the coordinating dies, before adhering them onto the card.
I hope you like the card! Don’t forget to leave a comment over on YouTube, and complete the Rafflecopter for a chance to win my giveaway prize for the Month Of Celebration.
