Loving Cat | Month of Celebration

Today I’m back with another cat-themed (for the Cat Lovers’ Hop) card making video (for my month of celebration) that’s short and sweet (because there aren’t enough hours in the day lately!) If you’re not sure what the month of celebration is, I’m celebrating both reaching 2000 subscribers on my YouTube channel, and it being my birthday month. All month long I’m going to be creating videos, and the more you comment on the more chances you’ll have to win a prize! Check out the original video to hear all about it, then leave a comment on the video, and head over to the Rafflecopter to confirm your entry. Commenting on today’s video is just one way to get an extra entry towards the prize draw.

I kept this card really clean and simple. I first used an embossing folder to create a frame on my card base. I then stamped my cat and sentiment, from The Greeting Farm’s retired Purfect Cats stamp set, directly onto the card base with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Next I picked out some of the stamps from Catherine Pooler’s Punctuated Party stamp set to use to add color to my image. I used scraps and snippets of post-it tape, washi tape and paper to roughly mask off the areas I didn’t want to colour.

For the main part of the cat’s body I used a small dot cluster with Simon Says Stamp Barely Beige ink, which allowed me to keep the impression of the cat having a white body whilst still adding interest and texture to it. I chose a striped stamp to add colour to the patches on the cat’s body, and went with Altenew Paper Bag ink for a nice brown shade. I actually used two sizes of striped stamps as the largest patch needed a larger stamp. I then used Altenew Coral Berry ink to colour the area of the stamps open mouth.

As a final touch I decided I wanted to add some more stamping just beneath the cat for a grounding element of sorts. I went for dots again, and stamped with Twilight Ink.

Don’t forget to leave a comment over on YouTube, and complete the Rafflecopter for a chance to win my giveaway prize for the Month Of Celebration.

Love,

  1. Oh, how cute!!!! Love the way the embossed design is off-the-edge and frames the kitty so nicely. What a creative way to make stripes on that rotund little sweetheart. ❤

Thank you so much for joining in the purry, furry fun at the #2020CatLoversHop!!
