Sassy & Crafty: A Colorful Hop | Paper Pieced Space Scene

I’m part of a really fun hop today, organised by Craft Collabs. We’re sponsored by Sassy & Crafty who provided the images for us lucky creators to play with, and are also providing a prize to one hopper. The giveaway is open until November 10th, and all the details on how to enter are in the description of my video over on YouTube. The theme of the hop is “colorful” and will have lots of great videos showing tips and ideas on coloring. I decided to do something a bit different and ‘color’ with paper by doing paper piecing.

As we were sent the images in digi form for the hop I started by working out in Word all the pieces I would need for my images, then printed them onto appropriately coloured pieces of paper. Of course if you have the physical stamps you can just stamp them directly into place. The stamp set I used is the Have a Blast set from Sassy and Crafty.

Once I had all the pieces printed I spent quite some time fussy cutting them out. I then layered them together, adhering the pieces into place with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue.

For my background I did some swinking, or direct to paper, with my Catherine Pooler ink pads. I made a rainbow of sorts with Tutti Frutti, Tiki Torch, Tiara, Lime Rickey, Something Borrowed, Flurty Fuschia and Party Dress. I then bought in Twilight and Midnight inks to darken the sky. Once I was happy with the inking I added splatters, first with water and then with watercolour paints in silver and gold. These gave the impression of stars and really pulled the galaxy background together.

I die cut my galaxy piece to be slightly smaller than my card base and adhered it into place before adding my paper pieced images onto it. I also finished off by adding a couple of the sentiments from the set onto the card.

Don’t forget that this is part of a hop, and there is a prize up for grabs. If you’d like a chance to win the prize, make sure to leave a comment on my YouTube video. Comments left here on the blog whilst very much appreciated will not count as an entry into the giveaway.

Love,

Charlotte E (Lady Joyful)
