Good Luck Coffee | Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I almost forgot about the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Hop starting today! Luckily I remembered before I went to bed and quickly made a card. I’m aiming to post daily throughout the hop, as I did with the recent Cat Lovers Hop.

For this card I started by stamping the to-go cup from Waffle Flower’s Coffee Time along with a large sentiment from their Big Day stamp set. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink for stamping both of them, and stamped directly on to a light blue card base.

I then came in with Catherine Pooler’s Something Borrowed ink, blending from the edges and fading out towards the centre for an ombre look. I didn’t mask the image off before blending as I wasn’t planning on blending over everything.

I used coloured pencils to colour the coffee cup as well as the stars that accompany the sentiment. I stuck with shades of blue plus a white as I wanted to keep the card monochromatic. I worked in multiple layers to build up the colour, and once I was done I returned the card base to my MISTI and restamped it to make sure the stamping was still nice and crisp.

I felt like the card still needed something and after some contemplation I used a white gel pen to add faux stitched detail around the edges, at which point I felt the card was complete.

I’m happy enough with this card – it meets the requirements I wanted, at least! It was fairly quick to make, is coffee-themed, and didn’t require too much brain power. (Did I mention it’s late here?) I don’t love it, but I do like it. I hope I will have more time to put into the cards I make for the other days of the hop!
