CIC 511 | Birthday Brush Florals | Maroon, Teal, and Gold

We’re into the second week of our colour challenge over at Cupcake Inspirations. The elegant colour palette we’re playing with is maroon, teal and gold. It’s a beautifully rich combination with a lot of possibilities. For this week’s project I made my own patterned paper panel featuring the colours as the accent on my design.

I started with Altenew’s Brush Art Floral stamp set and stamped several of the flowers across a panel of white card using Ruby Red ink. I used my MISTIΒ for the stamping which allowed me to stamp a couple of times to get a good impression. I then positioned some of the leafy stamps in between the flowers and stamped them with Lagoon ink. Next I found a stamp with a cluster of small dots, and used some gold pigment ink to repeatedly stamp the dots across the entire panel, filling all of the white space with the golden dots. The last piece of stamping was adding a sentiment from Build-A-Flower: Sakura Blossom which I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I used double-sided to adhere my patterned panel onto a light teal card base, then trimmed down two strips of Β Tonic Gold Pearl Satin Mirror card to add along the edges of the panel. I adhered those into place with Nuvo Smooth Precision Glue Pen, completing my design.

The gold dots weren’t my original plan for this card but I think they really work nicely with the pattern, and help pull in that part of the colour scheme more. I’m quite pleased with the result of this card. I hope you like it too, and that it inspires you to enter our challenge. If you’ve already entered don’t forget you can do so again – up to three times! You can find more inspiration from the rest of the design team on the original challenge post as well as the reminder post, as well as directly on their blogs via the links below.

  1. This must have been so much fun to make! What a great job! Love your little gold dots all over the place, and the overall colour combo is beautiful! Thanks for sharing this with us at The Paper Shelter!
