It has been a while. I haven’t had much crafty mojo this year… But I have a card to share with you today, for the new Cupcake Inspirations challenge. Our theme is Father’s Day, but if that’s not an occasion you create for (or if Father’s day is not close in your country) you can always make another kind of masculine card for someone special. I took inspiration from a card I made previously for my design.
I started with a green A2 card base and laid over the Newton’s Nook Plaid Stencil Set. Starting in the lower right corner I inkblended over layer one with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide. I then switched to layer two and blended with Aquatini ink. I wanted to build up the plaid even more, and decided to do each layer’s pattern again. I did the layer one with Tea Dye distress ink, then layer two with Hero Arts Unicorn pigment ink.
For my focal point I stamped an image from Newton Nook’s Papa Bear stamp set onto a snippet of alcohol marker friendly white card, using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink. I then coloured it in with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, going with reddish brown shades for both bears, and keeping the cub a lighter combo than the adult bear. I used dark greys for the noses, and finished off with some white gel pens to add shine to the eyes and nose. With the colouring completed I fussy cut the image out and used a black brush tip water-based marker to go around the edges and hide the core of the paper.
I used the cut out image along with the sentiment stamp to work out the final arrangement of the card. Once I had it decided I blended a little Twilight ink below where the image would be going in order to add some grounding. I also stamped the sentiment with the help of my MISTI and Versafine Onyx Black ink. Finally I adhered the bears into place, finishing the card.
I hope this inspires you to come and join in with our challenge. You can find further inspiration from the rest of the Design Team on the challenge site or directly at their blogs via the links below.
Love,
