Cupcake | Easel Card

Something a bit different today. I’m sharing an easel card. I haven’t made an easel card in ages, but I wanted to play along with the latest Craft Roulette Challenge and this is what I came up with. I’m still ill, and a bit stressed out today, so I’m not going to be doing my usual full write up. Sorry about that. Hopefully you’ll appreciate the post anyway.

I used some kraft card to make my card base. I stamped a tone-on-tone pattern onto it with the stitched circle from STAMPlorations Coffee Petites stamp set, initially with Simon Says Stamp’s Barely Beige ink but later with Hero Arts’ Caramel ink to make it stand out more. I then created my focal cupcake using the Cupcake Builder 2 dies. I cut the back piece from another piece of kraft, the wrapper from a snippet of silver, the icing from a snippet of chocolate pearlised card, and the cherry from a snippet of pinky-red mirror card. I also cut a second version of the cherry, plus three layers of the kraft card for it too, which I would use to make the stop on my easel. I then used my Nuvo Smooth Precision Glue Pen to adhere all the layers together.

Before adding my cupcake to the card base I created a panel to be both grounding for my cupcake as well as a place to add my sentiment. I cut this from a snippet of white card using one of Pink and Main’s Scalloped Wave Dies. I stamped the sentiment from STAMPlorations’ Sketched: Cupcake with Caramel ink, then adhered the white panel onto my card base and trimmed off the overhanging edges. Finally I adhered the cupcake, making sure not to adhere past the fold in the easel, as well as the stop to help hold the easel up when it is open.

With all the shimmer and shine of the different card I used for the cupcake element, this card was a little tricky to photograph, and the colours aren’t entirely true to life. Hopefully it still looks good though! It definitely makes me want a chocolate cupcake… I’d give the cherry to my husband though.

Love,

Charlotte E (Lady Joyful)

    1. Thank you 😊 Whoops, yes, I did miss that. I wasn’t crafting a while because of my health, so I missed the change. I’ll update my notes so that I don’t make the same mistake again. Thanks for letting me know.
