Seems like I really can’t manage to keep up with cardmaking/blogging and work lately! I think I’m getting more easily tired than usual because I’m still recovering from this virus. Maybe I’ll manage to get myself back on track eventually. In any case I wanted to share my final card for Camp Create, and this is what I came up with.
I started with the die cutting, as that’s the focus of the final day of camp, and I already knew what I wanted to do for it. My focal point was created with my MFT coffee cup die. (The dies I have are no longer available, but MFT has these ones as an alternative.)
I first took a snippet of brown and repeatedly die cut the word “coffee” into it. Most of the letters stayed in place nicely, which is what I wanted. A few came loose, and I just kept them safely whilst I finished cutting the rest of the words. I then added double sided tape to a small piece of scrap paper, adhered my die cut patterned piece onto it, and pieced the missing letters back into place. It was fairly simple apart from the “O”s as they are not perfectly round and there was a little finagling to get them properly in place. Once all the pieces were inlayed I ran the piece through my Mini Blossom again, this time with the sleeve part of the coffee die set. I then set that piece aside.
For the cup portion of the coffee cup I took a light beige snippet and die cut it with the cup die. I then used the dotted star die to create a pattern all over the cup, which I then layered onto another cup piece cut from a pale yellow snippet. I adhered the sleeve part onto it, then added a lid cut from another snippet of the brown card.
For my background I used some of the larger leftover pieces of snippets, creating an angled panel of dark brown, layering a yellow triangle onto it, a beige triangle above, and finally a brown banner using one of the MFT Stitched Sentiment Strips.

I’ll be honest, I don’t love this card. I think it is okay. I like the coffee cup, but the overall design is a bit… eh. I am not sure if maybe it’s too much brown, and I might have liked it more if I had switched around the colours of the pieces for the background. But, the important thing is that I got it finished. And I don’t have work any more this week, so I’ll have time (and hopefully energy) to work on more cards!
Love,
