Repeat Stamping on CAS Cards

In my blog post early today, which was sharing the cards I’d run out of time to share yesterday, I mentioned that I wasn’t sure if I’d get cards made for today. But I did! Both of the cards that I’m sharing now are clean and simple designs with repeat stamping, but they both look quite different from one another.

Card 1 – You’re Pawsome

My first card features a super cute puppy. I first cut a panel of X-Press It Blending Card to be 1/8″ smaller on each side than my card base. I then stamped a sentiment from a retired stamp set by The Greeting Farm with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then positioned the labrador puppy from Honey Bee Stamp’s old Puppy Love stamp set, which is also retired but they now have the Puppy Dog Tails stamp set which is similar and also adorable, plus the Puppy Love Bundle which includes those stamps, the matching dies, two pet-themed sentiment sets and their dies, and some little embellishments, and I wish I hadn’t seen it because now I want it!

Body – TN9, EB4, TN7, EB1

Tongue – PP5, PP2

Anyway, I shouldn’t let myself get distracted. When I had the puppy stamped out I started on my colouring. As always I used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. My brother has a chocolate labrador, Wispa, and I had her in mind as I was colouring.

After the colouring was finished I restamped the puppy with Versafine Onyx Black ink to make the lines crisper. I then pulled in the largest of the paw prints in the stamp set for my repeat stamping element. I used Simon Says Stamp’s Barely Beige ink for the paws as I wanted them to be kind of subtle. The one that I stamped overlapping the “you’re” of the sentiment picked up some of the black, and I didn’t realised until I stamped the next pawprint down and transferred the black with it… Luckily it doesn’t look too terrible, but you could avoid this by adding the sentiment last.

With the panel completed I adhered it to a kraft card base, finishing the card.

Double Trouble – Cute Animals and Optional: Pun

For the special random draw, here is a picture of one of our cats. This one is our eldest. His name is Elvis and he frequently “bleps” like this, with his little tongue sticking out. He’s a real sweetheart, and very snuggly. We recently had a health scare with him, and were expecting to lose him, but thankfully he has made a full recovery and is back to his normal loving self.

Card 2 – Happy Mail

Compensated post – see disclaimer at the end.

For my second card I decided to pull out some of my Skull and Cross Buns stamp sets, and create a design team make for them. I started with the Brush Hearts stamp set, and picked out the envelope stamp. I laid a circle die on my card base as a guideline and did some repeat stamping to create a circle of the envelopes. In hindsight I wish I’d positioned it higher or lower on the card, but never mind! I used Versafine Onyx Black ink for all my stamping.

Next I took the Crafting Is My Superpower stamp set, and stamped the “with love” sentiment into the middle of my envelope wreath. I decided I still needed something else, so I chose the little sequin stamp and added that to my wreath too.

There we have it – two clean and simple cards with repeat stamping. The second was really quick to make, but I do have a soft spot for the first. Which do you like best?

Love,

  1. Your card is as Paw-some as your Paw-some Pet, Elvis. So glad Elvis made a full recovery to have more cuddly time with you. He’s so adorable even though he sticks out his tongue. Love the markings he has on his face… handsome guy. Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble and please come back for future fun challenges and see what Thing 1, 2 and 3 are up to.
