TMR 154 | Give Thanks | Nature’s Bounty

Happy September, everyone! As today is not just the first of the month, but also the first Wednesday of the month, it is time for a new challenge at The Male Room. I’ve been on a break from this team over the last few month’s as I tried to get my crafty mojo back, and I had got it back in July and early August, just in time to agree to end the break, only to lose my motivation again after losing our little girl cat quite unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. But I’m trying to get myself back into the swing again, and I at least managed to make something for this challenge! Our theme is Nature’s Bounty which made me think of harvest time and I created a simple thank you card.

I started my card by creating an orange card base, then found some white snippets to create a front panel. I didn’t have a single piece of the right size, but I was able to mix and match two pieces to make it. I used a piece of washi tape to hold the pieces together on the back, trimmed them down a little, then used Copper Mirror Peel-Offs to hide the join. I used one of the widest ones across the join itself, a mid-width one below it, and then back to the widest to finish the trio.

With the panel assembled I placed it into my MISTI then positioned a pumpkin stamp plus a sentiment from a retired Simon Says Stamp set. I stamped them with MFT Black Hybrid ink then used some of my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour it in. I didn’t actually write down the colours, but I think it was B01, OR3, BO3 for the pumpkin itself, EB1 and EB4 for the stem, and IG2 and 1G6 for the shadow. I left a slight white edge for the highlight on all the areas I coloured then also used my white gel pens to add further highlights.

Having completed the colouring I restamped everything with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I’d left the stamps in place in the MISTI, and had even left the panel in the MISTI whilst I coloured, which meant that the restamping was perfectly in the right place. All that was left then was to adhere the panel onto the card base, and the card was complete.

I hope this inspires you to come and join in with our challenge. You can find further inspiration from the rest of the Design Team on the challenge site or directly at their blogs via the links below.

  1. This is a great card Charlotte and I love how you shared your card ‘fix’ too! That mirror stick on looks great and I love the pumpkin. I’m sorry to hear about your loss, I hope crafting will help you find some happier space. x
