I put together this quick clean and simple birthday card in between working on editing my video for tomorrow. There’s absolutely no stamping on this card, which just combines ink blending and die cutting.
I started by ink blending directly onto my card base. I first blended Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide along the very top edge of the card. Then I came in with Mermaid Lagoon to blend the rest of the area of the card. I wanted the blending to be mostly the Mermaid Lagoon, but with just a touch of the Cracked Pistachio at the top to add a bit of differentiation to the blending.
Setting the card base aside I used the retired Tree Landscape Die from Clearly Besotted to cut a panel of white card. I purposefully left it long so that I could get it positioned at the exact height I wanted, then trim the end off of it.
I used another piece of white card and the happy birthday die that came in the February Love From Lizi card kit, which I adhered into place with some liquid glue. The die does not come with a tittle (a.k.a. the dot on the “i”) so I considered adding a little star but it seemed too big. Then I was just going to draw it in with a white gel pen but I felt it looked too flat.
I spotted the button dies from the most recent Love From Lizi card kit (that I’ve been working on recently, and will be live sometime tomorrow!) and realised that the little dots that come out of the thread holes would work well. I ran one of them through with more white card, then applied it to the card using some liquid glue. The glue glooped a little and lifted some of the ink, but thankfully it’s not too obvious.
I like this simple birthday card. I am pleased with the ink blending, and I think the dies work well to complete the card. The tree border does have a Christmassy feel to it, but I think it works well enough for this card anyway. The colour scheme and the trees help to make this a masculine card, though it could work well for a woman too.
Love,
Lady Joyful

The colors you used for the ink blending are so pretty and work so well together. The white is an awesome contrast and the layout works so well for a CAS card.
