Hoppy Easter – IWD Feb 19 – Mar 4

We have a new Incy Wincy Designs Challenge starting today. We are being sponsored by Rick St Dennis for this challenge so be sure to play along for your chance to win! The theme for this challenge is Easter, and I used an image from our sponsor to create my card for your inspiration.

I began by printing the digi stamp onto some alcohol marker friendly card stock. The image is 2014 Easter Bunny. Once it was printed I started working on the colouring, using  Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and Yosoo alcohol markers.

I decided to keep the rabbit itself white, so I just added some light grey to certain areas in order to provide shading. I then added some light pink to the insides of the ears, the nose, and the tongue.

Next I coloured the rabbit’s clothes. I went with white for the shirt with a yellow button on the sleeve. The hat and trousers are very dark grey. The band on the hat as well as the waistcoat and the cane were coloured with yellow and light blue stripes. I did the waistcoat buttons in the same dark grey as the trousers, and finally used a yellow green for the bowtie.

I used the same yellow green to colour the gaps between the flowers behind the bunny. I then took a little while contemplating what colour to do the flowers. (I even asked for opinions over on my Instagram!) I eventually decided to go for pink with a yellow centre.

Once I had finished colouring the flowers I went around the edges where the flowers meet the bunny and added a little extra shading their to help the bunny pop from the background. I also added a cast shadow below the bunny using a light grey marker.

Finally I added a sentiment. I used MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink to stamp the sentiment which is from Simon Says Stamp’s Easter Greetings.

I’m really pleased with this card. It’s a fun clean and simple design. The bunny is so cute and I’m very happy with how I coloured it. I think the colours I chose work nicely for a Easter or spring themed card. The sentiment fits really well with the image too!
