Yes, you read that year correctly! This time last year I bought the Stamptember exclusive card kit from Simon Says Stamp, but never got around to making with it. Now that it’s Stamptember again I thought it was a good time to go ahead and use it. Of course the kit is no longer available, but I will provide links to all the items that can be bought individually.
Card 1 – Party Giraffe
I used a lot of the Pebbles Happy Hooray patterned papers and ephemera pieces for my ten cards. With my first card I started with a panel of the wide rainbow striped paper from the Pebbles Happy Hooray patterned paper pad. I bought in some clear glitter Love From Lizi peel-offs from my stash and used them to add a bit more interest along the lines of the paper. I then adhered the panel to my card base and topped it with the rainbow “party” cut apart rectangle and an ephemera giraffe, both popped up on foam squares.
Challenges:
Creatalicious Challenges – Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes
Card 2 – Birthday Dog
I used the second copy of the same party rectangle on card two. I changed up my layout this time, using two patterned papers. I first cut a panel of patterned paper with narrow rainbow striped, then adhered a triangle of orange paper over the top. I again edged with a peel off before adding my rectangle and ephemera. This time I used the dog with Happy Birthday balloons and adhered it all flat.
Challenges:
City Crafter – Pets
Seize The Birthday – Anything Birthday
Card 3 – Treat Yourself
I used some of the acetate pieces on my third card. I didn’t want them to be see through so I backed them on a snippet of white card and fussy cut them out. I then prepared my background. I cut a panel of the ice cream patterned paper and added a diagonal strip of the orange paper across it. I topped the panel with an oval ephemera piece with my sentiment, then added the acetate pieces to complete the card.
Challenge:
Addicted to Stamps and More – Anything Goes
Card 4 – Dream Balloon
As much inspiration as I was getting from the papers and ephemera I did want to get some use from the stamp set. I cut down the piece of watercolour paper from the kit and used MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink to stamp the balloon and a sentiment from the stamp set. I created a mask for the balloon using some scrap paper and Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue. I then used the MFT Mini Cloud Stencil and some Spun Sugar Distress ink to add clouds to the scene. Removing the masks I painted my balloon and sentiment with Mermaid Lagoon and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks.
Once I’d finished painting I adhered the printed panel to a card base onto which I had added three lines of glitter peel-offs. I then finished off with three of the Pebbles puffy stickers.
Challenges:
Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge – Anything Goes
Sketch Saturday – Use A Previous Sketch (I chose 532)
Card 5 – Stripey Birthday
I used Altenew Dusk ink and a few of the smaller stamps from the stamp set to create a tone-on-tone background for my fifth card. I then layered together two strips of the patterned paper and adhered them down the centre of the card. I used a Happy Birthday sentiment banner from one of the cut-aparts before finishing off with some Sea Breeze Nuvo Jewel Drops.
Challenges:
MFT Sketch Challenge – Sketch
STAMPlorations Theme & Sketch Challenge – Anything Stamping
TGIF Challenges – Create Your Own Background
Card 6 – Birthday Cake
My sixth card uses the rainbow bokeh style patterned paper as a background. I then adhered three of the candle ephemera pieces to the cake sprinkle sentiment ephemera, before adding that to the card base.
Challenge:
The House That Stamps Built – Anything Goes
Card 7 – Subtle Dream
I created a subtle scene for my seventh card using the stamps and some masking. I started by stamping and masking clouds, then added the castle and hot air balloon. I masked those off two before adding a few more clouds. Everything was stamped with Barely Beige ink from Simon Says Stamp to keep it subtle. I finished off by adding the golden “dream” across the card.
Challenge:
Stamping Sensations – Something Beginning With B (Balloon)
STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge – Anything CAS
Card 8 – Animal Celebration
I went to the cut-aparts for my eighth card. I chose four and matted them onto some patterned paper. I also matted a sentiment element. I then arranged them on a card base, adhering the four cut-aparts with Tombow Mono Multi glue and the sentiment popped up on foam tape.
Challenge:
SheepSki Designs – For Kids
Card 9 – Zebra Party
My ninth card also has an animal theme. I cut two panels of patterned paper to go on my card base, then added a glitter peel-off along the line where they met. I adhered a sentiment banner onto the acetate zebra and added foam tape to the back so that I could pop the zebra up without the adhesive showing through.
Challenges:
Polkadoodles Craft Challenge – Anything Goes
Stick It Down – Sketch
Card 10 – Yay Cake
My final card starts with a panel of the same yellow paper I’d used on card nine. I then take two of the “hanging strip” snippets from the top of the paper pad, trim the tearing edge away, and adhere them across the patterned paper ensuring that the holes will not be visible. I add some off-cuts of the glitter peel-offs along the edges of the strips, then adhere the cake ephemera over the top. Again I make sure the holes do not show. I adhere the panel to my card base before finishing off with a few Nuvo Drops in Limoncello.

Craftyhazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge – Use Patterned Paper
Little Miss Muffet Challenges – Anything Goes
……….
I had a lot of fun playing with this bright and happy card kit! I’d love to hear what card is your favourite. The kit was jam packed with goodies, several of which I didn’t even get to playing with. (Glitter shaker puffy stickers, anyone?) There are also several card bases left so I could easily make more cards with the kit. As I said this kit is no longer available as it was the kit for last year. I have included links to those items that are available, however. And if you click here you can find this year’s Stamptember kit, though you’ll need to act fast if you want one. I don’t have the funds for it myself at the moment, but I have plenty of other kits waiting to be played with to distract me!
Love,
Lady Joyful
