Combining Alcohol Marker Brands | Together We Are Stronger | Papercrafters Unite Against Racism Hop

Today I’m a part of the Papercrafters Unite Against Racism Blog Hop. If you’re already working your way through the hop you’ll have arrived here from Ingrid. If you’re starting at me, welcome to the hop! No need to go backwards, you can find the information for the next stop at the end of this post, and then you can hop and loop back through.

This hop is all about friendship, unity, support and, of course, anti-racism. The goal is to come together and stand behind our crafty sisters and brothers of colour and to show our support not just in the art industry but in the never-ending fight for equality all over the world. Be sure to visit Justine’s blog for all the information both about the hop (including a full participant list) and also about ways to help.

My project for the hop features a free digi stamp from Three Room Studios. I printed it directly onto my card base, then printed again at the exact same size onto some regular printer paper. I fussy cut the printer paper version off and used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to turn it into a mask, which I then lay over the image on my card base.

I ink blended over the card base with three shades of blue Distress Oxides. I started with the darkest, Stormy Sky, to the bottom of the card, then used Mermaid Lagoon in the middle and Tumbled Glass for the top portion. When the card base was covered I laid the Altenew On The Plus Side stencil over the top and blended through it with Tumbled Glass, which made a tone on tone background.

With the background completed I very carefully removed my mask, and began colouring my images. For the colouring I used a combination of Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and Yosoo markers, and in my video I give a brief comparison of the two brands and share tips on how to combine them. The most important thing is to have the colours swatched to make it quick to see which colours should work for blending with eachother. You can also see all the colouring and the caps for the colours I used in the video.

As I said, this is part of a hop with a very important message and theme. As well as being a blog hop we’re also hopping on YouTube and Instagram, and we hope you’ll come and join us there to further support the talented crafters along the hop. You can jump into the YouTube hop from my video here and the Instagram hop from my Instagram post here.

The next stop on the blog hop is: Anna
