Same Set Syndrome | Autumn Camera | Wild Card Month

It’s time for the Same Set Syndrome hop! This collaboration is a monthly series with today being the second one, and the last will be in November. The hop is all about supporting smaller stamp companies. This month is a wild card with no sponsor, though there may still be prizes along some of the stops of the hop. We’re also all going to be making shaped cards, revisiting some of our previous sponsors in the process – I chose Create and Inkspire for mine. Don’t forget that at the very end of this collaboration series, one person who has commented on all entries from all participants will be eligible to win a $50 gift card to the sponsor of their choice. I’ll have the information for the next stop later in this post.

This is also the penultimate video for my Month of Celebration. If you’re not sure what the month of celebration is, I’m celebrating both reaching 2000 subscribers on my YouTube channel, and it being my birthday month. (In fact, today is my birthday!) All month long I’ve been creating videos, and the more you comment on the more chances you’ll have to win a prize! Check out the original video to hear all about it, then leave a comment on the video, and head over to the Rafflecopter to confirm your entry. Commenting on today’s video is just one way to get an extra entry towards the prize draw.

I decided for my card shape to use the Camera die set from Lawn Fawn that I showed in a haul earlier this month. It’s an add on to the Magic Iris die set but I decided to use it without the iris. (If you want to see examples of cards using the iris, you can see the cards I’ve made with it here.)

First I measured out a snippet of white card to use for the top and bottom of my card then stamped onto it with the leafy branch stamp from the Wildflowers stamp set that came in the Create and Inkspire July kit. I stamped it second generation with Hero Arts’ Just Rust ink. I coloured the branches with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, choosing a muted yellow-orange shade for an autumnal feel. I finished the branches by adding some detail with a brown coloured pencil.

Moving on to the die cutting I cut out the panels with the colouring and also a whole camera from the Ivory Sheen Pearlescent card. I then used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the coloured pieces onto the main camera.

I tacked the camera onto a panel of white card with washi tape so that I could fussy around it to create the back panel of my card base. Once I had it fussy cut out I scored the top and adhered the front panel to the back panel, only attaching the area above the score line, which created the card base.

I realised at this point that I’d forgotten to add my sentiment. None of the ones from the Wildflower Sentiments set (that also came in the kit) seemed the right size to fit in the aperture which is what I wanted to do. I searched through my stamps and found a sentiment from Love From Lizi’s Flutterby stamp set which was a perfect fit. I stamped that into the aperture with Wild Honey Distress Oxide, which I felt matched the colours of the card nicely.

As a final touch I pieced the pearlised small circle element into the top corner of my camera, and also cut out a flash from the pearlised paper to adhere onto the other corner, completing my card.

Don’t forget that this is part of a hop, and there is a prize up for grabs. If you’d like a chance to win the prize, make sure to leave a comment on my YouTube video. Comments left here on the blog whilst very much appreciated will not count as an entry into the giveaway. Commenting on the video can count as an entry both to my Month of Celebration giveaway and the grand prize draw for the collaboration.

Be sure to check out Donna’s blog to keep hopping!

Love,
