Our fun colour challenge at Cupcake Inspirations is now halfway through, and I have a second card to share with you using the colours, which are blue, pink and white. (You can find the first card here.) I again used an image from our sponsor, The Paper Shelter who are offering three digis to our randomly chosen winner.
I began by printing the Namaste image from The Paper Shelter onto some alcohol marker friendly paper. I used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and Yosoo alcohol markers to colour in the image. I started with her skin, going with my go-to skin tone, then moved onto her hair. I decided to make her a brunette. I added coloured her hairband pink and added a touch of the same pink to her lips, and a little blue to her eyes.
I used the same pinks as I had used on the headband to colour her bra and the mat that she is sitting on, as well as the inner ears of the cat. The cat itself I kept white, just adding some shading with my greys. I coloured her shirt in the same way. I then bought in the blue to colour her shorts as well as the incense holder. Finally I added some cast shadow beneath the incense holder and the mat using my greys.
The last element to add to the card was the sentiment. The one I chose comes from Simon Says Stamp’s Sea You Soon set. I thought the sentiment was quite appropriate for the image! I stamped it using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.
I’m very happy with this card. The colours for our challenge work really well for this image, and leaving it CAS helped to add to the calm feel of it. I’m particularly pleased with my colouring of the skin on this image, especially on her face. I still need more practice with the hair, but I’ll keep working at it.
Love,
Lady Joyful
