You Are Unique | Crafting For Red Pandas Hop

I’ve already shared a Halloween themed project and a Birthday themed project for hops today, and now I’m back with a third card! I made this one for the Crafting for Red Pandas hop in honour of International Red Panda day. Through this hop you’ll see adorable red panda projects, learn facts about red Pandas, and if you leave comments you’ll be in for a chance to win either a gift card or a symbolic adoption of a red panda! I think that’s such a unique and fantastic prize and I do hope you’ll join in. Plus you can click here to donate to the conservation of red pandas. I myself will be donating a portion of any affiliate or Etsy sales I make from now until the hop ends.

For my card I’m using the very appropriate Color Layering Red Panda stamp set from Hero Arts, along with the Autumn Blessings Layering Cubes. I also made sure to use my MISTI so that I would be able to restamp in exactly the same place each time.

I started with the most solid layer of the red panda, and stamped it with Tangerine ink. I then inked just the very edges of that stamp with Just Rust before restamping, which gives a look of dimension to the design. I used the Just Rust again for the next layer of the red panda, which is the mask and stripes on the tail. For these I added dimension by inking the edge with Cocoa. Finally I stamped the last detail layer with the Cocoa ink.

For the background I kept it very simple with just the outline images from the stamp set. I used each of the bamboo stamps, flipping one of them so that I could get three different looking bamboo trunks. I also stamped the grass and leaves. I used Green Apple ink for each of those.

The last element to add to my clean and simple card was a sentiment. I chose “you are unique” and stamped it with the Cocoa ink, completing my card.

Layering stamps make for really striking cards, and adding the extra dimension around the edges helps to enhance the effect further. I love the end result and the detailed focal image works perfectly for a clean and simple design. I hope you enjoyed my project and that you’ll join in with this hop for an important cause!

Love,

Lady Joyful
