TMR 146 | Hummingbird Thanks | Animals

It’s new challenge time over at The Male Room. This month our theme is animals, and as always projects should be made with a masculine recipient in mind. I went clean and simple for my card. We’re also having a DT call over at the challenge, so be sure to hop over for the details if you’re interested in joining our team!

I started by cutting a panel of white card and placing it into my MISTI, then positioning the hummingbird from Uniko’s Paradise Hummingbird stamp set onto it. I then inked up with Memento inks in Lady Bug, Tangelo and Cantaloupe. I stamped and reinked several times to get a smooth ombre.

Once I was happy with the hummingbird I took the panel out of my MISTI, and masked off the humming bird as well as a circle around it. I ink blended the lightest grey from the Hero Arts Shades of Grey cube set into the circle, then went over it lightly with the yellow Memento ink to warm the colour up a little.

I removed my masks and returned the panel to my MISTI to stamp in the sentiment which is also from the hummingbird stamp set. As I already had it out, I used the black ink that comes in the Shades of Grey cube set. I then went around the edge of my white panel with the Lady Bug ink, then adhered it to a coordinating orange card base.

Initially I had thought the card was finished at that point, but I later decided to add a layer of clear embossing over the hummingbird to really make it pop. Then the card was complete.

I’m very pleased with the ombre colour of the hummingbird. It could easily be changed up to different colour palettes depending on the particular recipient.
