I’m sharing another of my Skull and Cross Buns DT cards that I made for the Hochanda show at the beginning of September. This one is a monochromatic design with lots of circles! You can see my other Skull and Cross Buns cards here.
I used my Gina K Wreath Builder to start stamping my design, with circle stamps from both the Retro Sweeties and Planner Banners stamp sets. I chose Altenew inks in pinky purple shades – Purple Wine, Puffy Heart and Rose Quartz. I worked from darkest with the largest circles towards the centre of the wreath, going out to smaller and lighter circles.
After completing the stamping I decided I wanted to add some more detail to the main portion of the wreath. For the three inner most rings of the wreath I added some ink blending with the same colour of ink that I had used to stamp the circles. I was able to use circles from the Decreasing Circles stencil to line up over the stamped circles and ensure my blending didn’t go outside of the stamped area. I concentrated the ink blending on the inner edges of each circle, fading out as it got further from the centre of the wreath.
As a final touch I added an embellishment to the centre of my stamped design. The embellishment is from the Tropical Party Embellish! Set 1.
I always enjoy playing with wreath designs, and especially non-traditional ones, so I had a lot of fun creating this card. It was a nice surprise to discover that the stencil fitted nicely with the stamped images so that I could use it to help with my ink blending. Be sure to come back on Thursday to see the next of my Skull and Cross Buns projects!
Love,
Lady Joyful
