It’s February, considered by many to be the month of love thanks to Valentine’s falling in the middle of the month. Our new theme at Happy Little Stamper’s CAS challenge takes that into account, as we look for projects inspired by the theme ‘Love Is In The Air’.
I toyed with a couple of different ideas in my mind before deciding on the card I ended up creating. I went without an image, and instead did some pattern stamping to create my focal panel.
I started with a snippet of white card a bit wider than my landscape oriented card base. I placed the white strip into my MISTI and began repeatedly stamping ‘hugs and kisses’ from Three Room Studios’ Loads of Love stamp set. I stamped diagonally with Altenew Puffy Heart ink, and tried to keep the wording evenly spaced. In a couple of places I left larger gaps, which I later went back and added an outline heart into, to add further interest to the design.
Once I was happy with the pattern stamping I wanted to bring in some black to add more contrast. I used my Versafine Onyx Black ink to run along the edges of the panel, which helped to define them. I then used the same ink to stamp my sentiment which I picked from Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Sakura Blossom stamp set.
I used double sided tape to adhere my stamped panel onto my pink card base, offsetting it towards the bottom for added interest. I trimmed off the overhanging ends, and completed the card with a trio of Ebony Black Nuvo drops arranged in a visual triangle.
I’m reasonably pleased with how this card turned out. Something about it doesn’t quite spark joy though, but I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is that I’m not happy with. In any case the pattern stamping technique worked nicely and it’s not a terrible result. I hope it inspires you to come and join in with our challenge this month. You can find further inspiration from the rest of the team over on the challenge page, or directly at their blogs via the links below.

It definitely sparked joy in me Charlotte! I can hardly believe you actually hand-stamped that amazing background! That’s a lovely sentiment too 🙂
