It’s time for the last Incy Wincy Designs challenge of the year! We have a colour challenge this time, and the colours we are looking for are red and green. Perfect for Christmas, but I decided to go a different direction and make a couple of pretty clean and simple floral cards.
I made two cards so that I could show examples with images from each of the sponsors. The sponsors are Bugaboo stamps, who are offering a $12 gift code, and Mari Ko Creations who is offering 2 digis, or 3 if you use a Mari Ko image in your entry.
My first card is the Bugaboo card using the Fancy Rose Vase digi stamp. I printed it out onto some alcohol marker friendly paper.
I used dark green Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour in the leaves and stem of the rose. As I don’t have any red SNs I switched to my Yosoo alcohol markers to colour the flower itself.
As the image has a waterline drawn in I wanted to colour the lower area of the vase as though there is water in it. I used my lightest blue SN marker to fill that in, then went over it with the blender pen to lift some of the colour back up.
After I had finished the colouring I carefully fussy cut out the image. It was a bit of a time consuming process as it’s not the most straightforward shape to be cutting around, but I got there eventually!
Taking a white card base I started to work on my layout. I put a line of red washi across the card towards the bottom, then adhered the fussy cut image to appear to be standing on the washi tape. I then placed the card in my MISTI and stamped on a sentiment from CASual Friday’s Calm and Loving stamp set.

For my second card I chose the Floral Wreath 1 set from Mari Ko. I layered the sentiment and image together and made sure the size was how I wanted, then printed them out onto some alcohol marker friendly paper.
I used the same colours of markers to colour this image as I had used for the Bugaboo card.
For this card I decided to keep it very simple, as the image and sentiment together really work well to make a complete card. I simply used double-sided tape to adhere the image flush to a green card base to create a one layer card. (Actually I got it ever so slightly wonky so some green shows on one edge… oh well!)
I’m really happy with both of these cards. I love the depth of colour with the red and green, and they look so rich and lovely together. It was nice to use the colours to make non-Christmas cards too, as there’s been so much Christmas going on lately! But then, it’s almost open us, so I probably should get back to it!
Love,
Lady Joyful
