Under The Sea Hop | So Jelly

Today is the second of a fun three day hop, the theme of which is Under The Sea. You can see my project for day one here. I decided to go clean and simple for this card and as with yesterday’s I’m featuring Lawn Fawn products. This is a hashtag driven hop and you can find more entries on Instagram and YouTube by using the hashtag #FridayUnderTheSea.

I began by masking off all four edges of my card base with 1″ post-it tape. I then ink blended with Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, and a touch of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks. Once I was happy with the blend I removed the mask and added some splatters of water mixed with Perfect Pearls to add some extra interest.

For my sentiment I stamped the you’re a star stamp from So Jelly onto some white card with the Cracked Pistachio ink. I then die cut it with MFT’s Stitched Sentiment Strips Dienamics . I used the same die to cut a second banner from black card, doing a partial die cutting technique to extend it so that I would have a longer banner than the first one.

I decided I wanted to add some extra interest by dry embossing a star onto my ink blended panel. I used a star die and created an embossing sandwich for my Big Shot with the help of an embossing mat, which let the die press an impression rather than cutting. I then added white ink over the star to give it a bit more definition.

I had already stamped, coloured with Illustrator markers, and fussy cut the starfish and jellyfish from So Jelly as well as a seahorse from Mermaid For You. I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere them and my sentiment banners to the card base, before finishing off with some Sea Breeze Nuvo Drops.

I think this card turned out really cute, and I hope you think so too! I had fun making it. I always enjoy ink blending, and especially the reveal when removing the masks.
