Under The Sea Hop | Slimline Underwater Scene

Today is the third and final day of a fun three day hop, the theme of which is Under The Sea. You can see my project for day one here and for day two here. I decided to create a scene for this card and again I’m featuring Lawn Fawn products. This is a hashtag driven hop and you can find more entries on Instagram and YouTube by using the hashtag #SaturdayUnderTheSea.

I started by creating my card base and cutting down a panel to quarter of an inch smaller for creating my scene. I then used a Scrapbook.com Stencil brush to ink blend Aquatini and Something Borrowed inks from Catherine Pooler onto the background to make the sea. I wanted some texture to the background rather than a smooth blend.

Next I used MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink to stamp out a variety of images from Lawn Fawn’s Mermaid For You, So Jelly, Ahoy Matey and Lovable Legends, which I then coloured with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers before fussy cutting them out. 

I used a snippet of kraft card and a Pink & Main Scallop Waves die (intentionally without scallops!) to create the sandy sea floor, and stamped the rock from Mermaid For You onto the same card with Hero Arts’ Caramel ink.

For the seaweed I stamped onto vellum, then heat embossed with WOW! Embossing Powders in Chocolate Caramel Pearl, Gold Pearl, and Glassy Ocean. I then fussy cut those out.

With all my elements ready I worked out exactly how I wanted them arranged before adhering into place with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue.
