The new release at Craftin Desert Divas has all been revealed! Have you seen it yet? There are so many sweet festive images to enjoy! I previously shared some sneak peeks showing the new Cheerful Snowman digi stamp (here) and Present Snowman digi stamp (here).
On today’s card I’m again featuring the Present Snowman. I arranged it with the Tangled Snowman as well as the sentiment from Bright Deer. Once I was happy with the arrangement I printed everything directly onto my card base so that I could again make a one layer card.
I used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour everything in. I used pale blues to add the shading to the snowmen, a soft orange combination for their carrot noses, grey for their buttons, and brown for the stick arms. I used the same brown combination for the tree trunk and the main portion of the pot.
I decided to go non-traditional for the accessory elements of the image. The scarves, hats, gloves and presents were all coloured with muted pink and teal. I used the same colours to add the decorative portions of the pot. I went with a more traditional green on the tree and used that same green on the holly leaves. I also used a darker pink to give the berries of the holly a redder appearance.
For the lights wrapping around the tree and held by the Tangled Snowman I went with yellow. I used a more intense yellow directly within the area of the bulbs, but to add a glow to them I used a combination of my lightest yellow and blender pen to colour around the outside of each bulb. I used the same yellow to add glowing highlights onto elements of the image close to the lights. I also coloured the star on top of the tree in yellow.
I used a very pale cream colour to add shading to the white on the presents and the Tangled Snowman‘s hat. For the Present Snowman‘s scarf I decided to use grey to shade instead. I also used the grey to add shading below both snowmen and the tree to ground them a lottle.
Then I added highlights with my white gel pen. I put them on the holly berries as well as using them to add a twinkle to the snowmen’s eyes. I also added some white dots to the star to look a bit like sparkle.
Finally I decided to further embellish the lights by adding some Limoncello Nuvo Drops. As they are jewel drops they dry translucent, so the yellow colouring beneath enhances the yellow of the Drops.
I had fun creating this cute Christmas scene. I love how easy it is to put the images from the release together to create scenes like this. And actually you could easily bring in older images too to make fun scenes. Plus one layer cards are a great choice for Christmas because they’re cheaper to send out, which is good if you will be sending a lot! Don’t forget you can shop the new release here and if you check back on Monday I’ll have one more card to share with you featuring new digis from the release.
Love,
Lady Joyful
